Michigan Teen Driving Law
A new law is coming into effect on Wednesday and its targeted at teen drivers in Michigan. More specifically teens with a level 2 graduated drivers license. This is the newest law regarding driving in Michigan. A super drunk law was also passed recently in October along with the texting while driving ban on what seems like a crackdown on driving in Michigan.
What Are The Changes to Teens Driving Law in Michigan?
- You can't be on the road from the hours of 10pm to 5am if you are under 21.
- Only one passenger under the age of 21 is allowed to be in the car (excluding immediate family)
Thankfully, this law still allows you to drive to or from work after the designated hours. And the second change basically means you can have immediate family that doesn't fall within the age limit, but you can only have one "friend" under the age of 21 in the car with you. This is confusing but remember this law only applies to drivers with a level 2 graduated drivers license.
What Are The Penalties For the New Teen Driving Law?
The violation of this law will be a civil infraction and most likely affect insurance rates.
