A medical marijuana dispensary owner is facing criminal charges for suspicion of operating a downtown marijuana dispensary which currently violates state law. T.J. Rice, the man in suspicion, has not been arrested, but there are two outstanding warrants waiting for him. In spring of 2010, Rice was investigated by city police and they confiscated many of his medical marijuana plants. Both charges are 4 year felonies in the state of Michigan.
The interesting aspect of this case is that Ann Arbor City council passed amendments saying drug felons cannot operate a dispensary in Ann Arbor. Rice, believe it or not, is thought to be a
drug felon because of a previous marijuana cultivation charge. Rice also happens to be a cancer survivor who lives off Michigan social security disability. He has numerous recommendations from doctor's approving his marijuana use.
