What happens when you get a previously stolen Ferrari F50, an Assistant United States Attorney, a FBI Agent, and a Tree? The answer is . . . well, likely, a Lawsuit.
In another instance of an immovable object meeting and unstoppable force, the Michigan, Insurance Company, Motors Insurance Company potentially takes on the FBI for the damage done to a Ferrari that was allegedly taken out for a spin.
Back in 2009, a FBI agent and Assistant United States Attorney allegedly took a drive in a well known vehicle known as a Ferrari F50 and crashed the car into tree. The Tree caused some serious damage to the Ferrari which was valued at a worth of approximately $750,000.
Instead of the government filling a 1st party
lawsuit for injuries sustained in the accident, the Insurance Company, Motors Insurance Company, who claims to have assumed ownership for the vehicle after the vehicle was stolen in 2003 filed a claim for the damaged to the wrecked vehicle.
However, the FBI and the Justice Department hasn't actually just handed over records concerning the storage and use of the Ferrari and is likely to assert a defense of immunity from civil liability pursuant to 28 U.S.C §2680(c)
