Attorney General Bill Schuette is letting his position be known to Michigan residents. He wants nothing to do with the medical marijuana law and would like to see it go away. Here are a few of the quotes from Wednesday on WJR radio.
- "It's the wild, wild west, Michigan outhgt to be a place where we're building jobs not pot shops."
- "...We ought to make sure that the law that was approved, that was narrowly designed for those who have a chronic illness or a severe disease, is not exploited by those who want to line thier pockets"
- "Local communites should not be forced to sanction criminal activity"
- "The underpinning of those zones banning pot shops and these dispensaries....lawenforcement calls them drug houses...the foundation for that is federal law that prohibits the sale and disctubtion of marijuana as a class one drug."
Personally I don't really understand his position. How do the marijuana laws, medical or not stop Michigan from creating jobs? Clinics and stores selling hydroponic equipment and chemicals aren't creating jobs? It sounds to me like Bill is picking and choosing what companies/industries he would like to see succedd. I'm just tired of this "war on drugs" and what a waste it is. Stop fighting over these small issues and get something done!
