More Medical Marijuana Raids in Michigan

The Dryden marijuana dispensary can now say that it's been raided 3 times. The first raid occurred on August 31st, 2010 and two more raids were performed within the next week. The Lapeer County police department executed the raids stating that the dispensary broke the law by selling more than is allowed by law. The PD had the proper search warrants when conducting the raids. The reason for the third raid is simply the dispensary had not changed its operating procedures. Apparently the PD also discovered a growing operation in Metamora where roughly 270 plants were taken. The amount of plants taken from the Dryden location is unavailable.

The Medical Marihuana Act is obviously written poorly and extremely vague. This confusion in the law is what is triggering these raids. The Act states that caregivers can have up to five patients at a time, and neglects to cover anything related to patient to patient selling. It is these compassion clubs and dispensaries that seem to keep popping up in the newspapers. ANY dispensary is going to be looked at through a microscope and the authorities are going to win this battle until the law is rewritten or more regulation is deployed. The interpretation is that a caregiver must supply a maximum of five people and anything other than that seems to be cracked down on. The dispensaries are breaking this rule since its not a direct caregiver to patient relationship.
