The Edmund Fitzgerald Pt. 2

As you all know there is a major system currently moving through the Midwest and Michigan. It caused chaos yesterday with multiple tornado warnings and I'm sure many down power lines. Although tornadoes didn't really account to anything, the meteorologists are not apologizing. The national weather service claims that it is "A trade-off between giving people lead time to get shelter and confirming that a tornado is actually occurring," From the size and intensity of this storm, its hard to blame the meteorologists. In fact this storm is likely going to set a new continental U.S. non-tropical pressure record.
For some strange reason I have always enjoyed watching storms pass through while being outside on a porch or some covered area. When growing up I especially enjoyed watching a rain storm move over one our Michigan Lakes with great speed and great power. It really is awesome on how powerful mother nature really is. I was interested in how this system is hammering the great lakes and found out waves of 24 feet are forecasted!! My first reaction was even the boys on deadliest catch would think twice before heading out this week.
I would also like to give my $.02 worth warning the residents and tourists to stay away from the piers on Lake Michigan during these high wind storms. Many people think it would be really fun to take a walk out on the pier or beach and take in the power of mother nature. I completely agree that it is inspiring, but it is also extremely dangerous! I like to take salmon fishing trips out of various Michigan ports and have seen first hand how dangerous the great lakes can be during a storm. You do not want to mess with it! I have heard way too many reports of people sightseeing during high waves being washed in Lake Michigan and never being found. This year there were many deaths in Lake Michigan and there is absolutely no reason for this. Let the waves die down before you do something like this!
