ACLU Is Sueing Various Cities For Banning Medical Marijuana

Sorry for the lack of posting lately, I will try to keep the blog more regularly updated! The American Civil Liberties Union is suing Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills and Livonia for banning medical marijuana. The outcome of these lawsuits will most likely put in place a legal precedence for all of Michigan, and the results are critical to the future legal environment surrounding medicinal marijuana. Cities around the State of Michigan have begun to enact ordinances which violate state rights by prohibiting growing and using medical marijuana. The Medical Marijuana Act, which was passed in 2008 with an overwhelming majority by the voters in Michigan, was written ambiguously and has caused a lot of confusion and unnecessary arrests/lawsuits. Honest Michigan residents are in fear for using a prescription that is perfectly legal. When the act passed, I thought it would bring help and relief to those in need of the medical treatment, but are now living in more fear simply by following the State Law that was written. The Michigan residents who voted and passed this Act deserve better treatment from Law Enforcement and also deserve the right to know exactly what is legal and what is not!
