Can you be fired for using prescribed Medical Marijuana?

I was reading the Wall Street Journal and found a really interesting article that could have a major impact in the state of Michigan.  Joseph Casias, an employee at a Michigan Wal-Mart is suing the company.  Joseph says he is using medical marijuana in order to lessen the pain from a brain tumor.  The tumor is apparently not operable and his doctor recommended and prescribed medicinal marijuana.  The somewhat recently adopted Michigan Medical Marihuana Program states that registered patients shall not be “denied any right or privilege” or face disciplinary action at work because they use medical marijuana. The only exception: Employers do have the right to terminate workers who use marijuana on site or come to work high.  Joseph claims he has never used marijuana at the job or came to work high.  He just uses the medicinal drug at night.  His suit is over his firing which he claims Wal-Mart is in the wrong.  And of course Wal-Mart is sticking to their guns saying it was a difficult decision, but they are simply following the federal standard.  This is really a decision I'm following closely and hoping that Joseph prevails.
